The FLYING GAFF
Flying Gaff is rigged with 3 feet of vinyl coated Stainless Steel cable spliced to 18 feet of 3/8ths nylon rope. It has a 6 inch hook with 6 foot handle. The HOOK
We start with 5/8ths inch diameter 304 Stainless Steel and turn it on a CNC lathe to a needle sharp point, then TIG weld the barb and rope eye in a fixture. It is then wire brushed and rough polished then finish-buffed to a bright shine. The 2-step buffing improves the corrosion resistance of the Stainless Steel and enhances the overall beauty of the metal. At this point we attach 3 feet of vinyl coated SS cable with an eye for splicing on 18 feet of 3 strand nylon rope. All cable crimps and rope splices are covered with heat shrink tubing. We also make a chiseled-point hook to meet the special request of some of our customers. |

The STAINLESS STEEL HANDLE
The handle is made from 1inch diameter 304 Stainless Steel with a .052 wall thickness. The handle is drilled and counter sunk, then polished to a mirror finish. The handle has a Delrin collar with a slot machined in it to hold the cable used in our Hooks and Harpoons. This tool is medium weight and very strong. With a little more weight this gives more force when harpooning and less flex when gaffing. |

The ALUMINUM HANDLE
The handle is made from 1inch diameter 6061 Aluminum with a .0625 inch wall thickness. The handle is drilled and counter sunk, then polished in a lathe with a buffing pad. This leaves a matt finish. The handle is anodized and dyed a color, either gold or black.
The Anodizing process changes the molecular qualities of the metal and makes it resistant to corrosion from salt and the elements. Anodizing also makes it non-conductive electrically.

The RECEIVER and END CAP
The Receiver and End Cap are made from Delrin. The receiver has a locating slot for the flying gaff hook to slide into to keep the hook from rotating. There is a 1/4 inch thumb screw threaded into it to apply force for the proper amount of resistance for hook set. The 5/8 inch diameter socket is precision reamed for a proper fit and will receive all of the additional tools made by us, such as Harpoon Iron, Tuna Swimming Hook, Tail Roper, and De-Hooker . The end cap is pressed and glued into the end of the handle. |

The MATERIALS
We use the best materials for the job. All screws, nuts, washers and springs are stainless steel for their strength and their ability to withstand the elements.
We offer any custom configuration you want. Our handles, both Stainless Steel and Aluminum accept ALL of our tools. We are now offering counter balancing in the handles for the larger hooks and also weight forward for harpoons.
